World Environment Day 2024 Photo Competiton 🌎 🌊 🌿

Theme: Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience

In celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, Bahamas Protected Areas Fund (BPAF) is hosting a photo competition aimed at highlighting the beauty and significance of the Bahamian environment.

The contest is open exclusively to Bahamians (citizens and naturalized ONLY), ensuring that the perspectives captured reflect local insights and experiences. By engaging the community directly, BPAF aims to foster a sense of ownership and pride in the conservation efforts of our land, our future, our Bahamas.

how it will work

The Bahamas Protected Areas Fund (BPAF) invites interested persons (“Entrants”) to participate in a photo competition in celebration of World Environment Day (WED) 2024. By participating in this competition, Entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and to BPAF decisions, which are final and binding on all matters regarding the competition. The competition will operate as follows:

Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to Bahamian (citizens and naturalized ONLY) non-professional photographers, and only one submission per Entrant is permitted.
  • Employees of BPAF, Board members and immediate family members living in the same household, are not eligible.
  • This year’s theme is Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience. To learn more, visit https://worldenvironmentday.global.
  • Briefly describe the significance of your photo relative to the theme and our local environment, and simply email your digital photos in JPEG or PNG format to info@bahamasprotected.com with the subject: World Environment Day 2024 Photo Competition. Photos must not be larger than 15MB.
  • You must also include a brief description of your photo, along with your full name, address, telephone number and email address with your submission; the photo submitted MUST be your original photo.
  • Blurred photos, photos with visible marks on the image, signatures or watermarks are not permitted.
  • BPAF is not responsible for late or unsuccessful attempts to enter.
    Creativity is highly encouraged.

Photos must NOT:

  • Contain material that is (or promotes activities which are) sexually explicit, obscene, pornographic, violent, discriminatory (based on race, sex, religion, physical disability, natural origin, sexual orientation or age), illegal, offensive, threatening, or harassing.
  • Contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including, but not limited to, material that violates privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement; and
  • Contain third parties, including, but not limited, to minors, celebrities and friends, who have not expressly authorized Entrants to display their image or likeness in any submission.

Submission Details

RIGHTS IN SUBMISSIONS

By participating in the competition, each Entrant hereby grants permission (except where prohibited by law) to BPAF to use the Entrant’s photos for the purpose of public education or promotion without further notice, permission, compensation or consideration in any and all media.

PRIZES

  • The best photo will receive a prize of $1,000.00
  • The second-best photo will receive a prize of $500.00
  • The third-best photo will receive a prize of $250.00

The deadline for this contest is June 15, 2024 before midnight. Photos received after this time will NOT be accepted.

Winners will be notified on June 22, 2024 and must be willing to be photographed receiving their prize at BPAF’s office, at a date and time to be advised.
